Once text is saved into an archive, browsing it is easy. Just double click the archive (or drop it on a copy of Pearl) and Pearl will open the archive. Archive windows work the way many similar browsers work. You select an item from the list at the top and it is displayed at the bottom. Archived text may not be changed once it has been saved, however, so don't even try it (you can Copy it, of course). The description of each archived item may be changed by using the Get Info pick in the Item menu. This serves two purposes: it tells you some facts about the selected item and it allows you to edit the description line to anything you like (up to the max, 80 characters).
There are two ways to archive additional text once you are browsing an archive. If you have text on the clipboard, you can select Paste from the edit menu. The text will be processed according to the preferences you have set and placed in the currently open archive. You can also bring up an empty New Item window and type text into it from the keyboard or Paste clipboard text into it.
Sorry, but this version will not let you delete items from an archive. Future versions will deal with this (see the Pearl's Future section).
Use the Find item in the Edit menu to search an archive for a string. The Find dialog has options for the direction and scope of the search. The Find Again item in the Edit menu repeats the last Find operation.
Use the Print menu item to print the currently selected item in an archive. There is currently no provision for printing more than one item at a time (see the Pearl's Future section).
